You might think that February is a quiet time in Burgundy and therefore my newsletter introduction will be short. After all, the harvest is done. The holidays have come and gone. And winter has set in. But in fact, February is a bee-hive of activity in the burgundy wine world. And a busy time for us too. We are busy visiting winemakers, tasting wine, working on club selections and preparing wine shipments for our US cellars. So maybe this introduction might be a bit longer than usual. Bear with us...
At the Domaine
It is the time of year where we carry out maintenance at Domaine de Cromey, ensuring everything is 'just so' for our guests when they arrive for this year's visits. Speaking of visits, it is also the time of year we take bookings for the 2025 season. So, let me encourage you to check out our availability to ensure you get the dates you want, assuming you would like to come and visit this year! Come as a couple or as a group (up to 12). To remind you, after a successful introduction of our Mix & Meet weeks in 2024, we are offering the same opportunities this year for individual couples to come without the need to put together a group. Just complete the booking enquiry with your dates and party size and we will take it from there.
On the Wine Front
Wine Auction
The next big wine event of 2025 is the Hospices de Nuits wine auction, which takes place next month. It is always an exciting event, smaller and perhaps more intimate than the Hospices de Beaune and older too! We'll be reaching out to interested clients in advance, but if you are interested do contact me now.
Astounding News
We are particularly proud of the second vintage of the Cromey ‘Le Clos’ wines of 2023, from our own vineyard at the Domaine de Cromey. These wines, and particularly this vintage, has surprised everyone with its depth and finesse in just its second vintage. You can get some here. As part of our collection of wines we have added a Beaune 1er Cru, ‘Champimonts’ from one of the noble vineyards, right in the heart of the best of the Beaune premier crus. It takes the Domaine de Cromey label to new heights. We are offering the 2022 vintage 'en primeur' now, for delivery mid year.
Our Ethic and Small Production Winemaking
February is the perfect month to talk about the Domaine de Cromey and burgundywine.com ethic. This topic occupies more than a few sessions here at Cromey as we review and taste wines, write tasting notes and consult with each other and with winemakers. For us, it is all about Small Production Burgundy; the value in ‘lesser appellations’, the importance of friendships and fidelity in a culture where enthusiasm means more than your checkbook. We go from strength to strength and deeper and deeper into the hidden gems of Burgundy. We have a blog on this.
Our Growing Wine Clubs
The addition of a User Choice feature to our Burgundy wine club, where members can substitute wines for those in the suggested selection, has proved very popular. Check it out here.
Library Club
Here we curate rare, scarce and exceptional wines and deliver them to discerning members twice a year. We limit the number of members because these wines, like most high end burgundies, are in short supply. But working with our exceptional winemakers we curate a small collection and offer it in this club. We still have a few available memberships to this exclusive club. Check it out here.

The second harvest (from fourth-year vines) produced a properly made wine, with enough fruit yield at harvest to give a true impression of the qualitative and quantitative potential of the Le Clos vineyard. None of the ferment of the 2022. A crystalline green-gold robe. Moreover, there is a bright nugget of clean, balanced fruit that runs from attack, through mid-palate and on to the finish. Slight flinty minerality, carried on by good acidity, takes you to a juicy finish. These are signs of an interesting terroir, and the marks of a well-made wine. The impression of potential in the Le Clos vineyard is reinforced by the overall harmony of this young-vine Chardonnay, which already shows character and class.
This wine is available for presale en primeur, with delivery anticipated in June/July—perfectly timed for summer shipping.
Available as a single bottle for $47
a 6-Pack for $222
or Full Case for $444
