DOMAINE PIERRE NAIGEON 2019 MIXED CASE
We have been working with Pierre Naigeon since 2006, and were the first to present his wines in the US. We've watched as his tiny production has increased in volume and his wine making has become prodigious.
Today he produces only single-parcel wines, his generic appellation 'bourgognes' included. And his dedication to quality is rivaled only by the greatest of the great (and I do not hesitate to mention DRC).

Domaine Pierre Naigeon Gevrey-Chambertin 'En Sylvie' 2019
The Gevrey-Chambertin 'En Sylvie' (another single vineyard) is flowers and lace. What finesse and elegance. Open, opulent, rich and running on all cylinders. Like all great Gevrey: a fist in a velvet glove.
Domaine Pierre Naigeon Marsannay 'Sampagny' 2019
And allow me to end with the biggest surprise of the day. Pierre's Marsannay 'Sampagny' proves the adage that to understand Marsannay you need to know the vineyards. There is such diversity in the soil types in Marsannay. But here, in this single-vineyard 'Sampagny' you get a delicate cover to a magnificently complex wine, graceful and yet full of energy and tension. A great example of what Marsannay can be.
Domaine Pierre Naigeon Gevrey-Chambertin 'Creux Brouillard' 2019
The Gevrey-Chambertin 'Creux Brouillard' (meaning 'foggy hollow') again, a single-vineyard bottling, produced 3500 bottles in 2018. So Gevrey! So pure and floral and fruity, but with lots of stuffing. Great open bouquet, crisp and juicy fruit, great balance and acidity. And a log finish. That got it a two-star rating in my notes. A rare thing.
Domaine Pierre Naigeon Mazys Chambertin 2019
Pierre has one tiny parcel of this majestic Grand Cru, producing one barrel, fewer than 300 bottles. And we have 36 of them. And it is remarkable. Deep, almost black; limpid and bright. Fresh black cherry, with toasty hints. Supple and round, powerful, but full of charm, with no excess. Great balance. And the finish goes back to fruit... for a long time. 2019 power and elegance. This is a wine we have not put on the website because of its rarity...288 bottles for the entire world! And Elden is the only American importer.
